Just saw the deal you got b.
Think I may have gone that way too if the deal was available earlier when I started looking. Maybe the best I've seen value wise.. Good choice !!

Thanks, mitte. There was an even better deal up to the end of June. It was the same as what I'm getting but with $100.00 credited to your account on the third invoice from memory. I didn't go for it because I hadn't decided on the phone.

Now I'm impatiently waiting for the courier to arrive at work.

Let me know how that phone is please Biggles. I'm in the market for a couple of newies. One to replace my wife's old 3315 and one to replace my 6230i which is getting tired. I usually try to buy a superseeded models and buy them outright, that way people have posted all their faults and I know what to expect

I'd like to enquire how the phone is going Biggles. I'm in the market for a new one for a gift for my youngest. I'm looking at maybe the 6220 or a Sony Ericsson K550i. I'm losing a bit of faith in Nokia of late but I'd be interested in what your thoughts on your new phone are?

So far I'm extremely happy with it. I should point out that of all the functions it has, the one I use the least is telephone. #-o

The build quality of the keypad is a bit suspect. I think that if you're an avid text messager type person, you could find yourself with a broken key pad in a matter of months.

The camera is sensational! Its a good but not fantastic mp3 player. The 2.5mm jack is a bit of a bummer. A standard 3.5mm would be much better. I haven't had a chance to really use the GPS yet but that will come.
As a PIM, its better suited to my purposes than my PDA so as soon as I buy a dedicated GPS for the car, I'm going to sell the PDA.
I'm also about to purchase a larger memory card and also get one with a USB reader. When I do, the phone will replace the USB drives that I've been using for the last 18 months to transport files around the place.

HTH,

Cheers,

b.

Sorry about the gravedig but I just wanted to reply to ths- Next G is not GSM outside of city areas. NextG is the term Telstra use to refer to their WCDMA/UMTS network that operates at 850Mhz (as mentioned) but it does so in all areas it covers (which is large- biggest coverage of any network in Au).

Telstra's GSM network is a different matter completely- the GSM network is also likely to be phased out in the 2010/2011 timeframe.

On the point of ridiculous pricing, you are 100% correct.

Thread 1012 time!

I've had a Nokia 6220 Classic on Virgin for, oh, eight months now. Can't fault it. I've put in a 8 GB Micro SD so I've got space to burn.

I got two E51's, a work one and a personal one. Never use the Bluetooth, Wi Fi or InfraRed myself.

Do either of you have any issues with the volume of the phones earpiece. I can hardly hear anybody on mine and am thinking of sending it in for repair :?

Just dont interfere till the process has finished... Follow any instructions... It may appear to die during the upgrade, but leave it.. It's part of the process
